Ticks are very active during the fall months. Use insect repellants and check frequently for ticks when hiking or camping. Protect dogs from fleas and ticks with Advantix, Frontline, or tick collars available from your veterinarian.
Grain beetles and Indian meal moth larvae are pantry pests that can be controlled by carefully checking all opened packages, throwing out infested foods, washing infested storage containers, storing cereals and grains in closed containers and vacuuming and thoroughly cleaning pantry shelves and floors. Wolf spiders may enter homes in the fall. They are large, brown and hairy. Capture them in a container and release them outdoors. They are very benefical predators.
